CFSB Invests in Career Exploration for Marshall County Middle School Students

Community Financial Services Bank (CFSB) is helping Marshall County students begin exploring their futures long before they enter the workforce through its sponsorship of four new Career Lab modules for North Marshall Middle School and South Marshall Middle School.

Marshall County Schools has launched the Career Exploration Program for students in grades six through eight in partnership with Paxton Patterson. Through hands-on, interactive modules, students will have opportunities to discover their interests, strengthen employability skills and experience tasks connected to a variety of career fields.

The program is designed to introduce students to potential careers at an important point in their education. Before entering high school, students begin making decisions about classes, programs and pathways that can influence what comes next. These labs will allow them to base those decisions on real experiences rather than simply what they believe a career may involve.

“We want our students to understand that there are so many different opportunities available to them,” said Autumn Anderson, Marshall County Schools educator and Career Exploration Program leader. “These labs give them the chance to experience different careers, learn more about their own interests and begin thinking about what they may want their future to look like.”

Each Paxton Patterson module provides students with an immersive introduction to a career area through guided activities, specialized equipment and problem-solving experiences. The available labs represent fields ranging from health science and skilled trades to technology, engineering, communication and other growing industries.

CFSB’s sponsorship will fund four career modules, expanding the number of experiences available to students at both North Marshall and South Marshall Middle Schools. The investment builds upon the bank’s continued support of education, career readiness and workforce development throughout the communities it serves.

“Students shouldn’t have to wait until graduation to begin discovering where their interests and abilities might lead them,” CFSB President Jason Jones said. “Career exploration gives them the confidence to ask questions, try something new and make more informed decisions about their education. We’re proud to partner with Marshall County Schools to create those opportunities for students here at home.”

In addition to introducing individual career fields, the labs will help students develop skills that are valuable in every workplace, including communication, collaboration, critical thinking, problem-solving and personal responsibility. The program also creates a stronger connection between classroom learning and the careers represented throughout Marshall County and the surrounding region.

For CFSB, that connection is an important part of investing in the long-term strength of the community. Today’s middle school students will become tomorrow’s employees, entrepreneurs, educators, healthcare professionals and community leaders. Giving them space to explore now can help them recognize their abilities and see a future for themselves within the region.

“This program is about helping students connect what they’re learning today with the possibilities waiting for them tomorrow,” Anderson said. “Support from community partners like CFSB allows us to provide meaningful experiences that can influence the decisions our students make for years to come.”
